Abstract

This year marked the 60th anniversary of opening of Paleolithic man site named after Ch. Valikhanov by Khasan A. Alpysbayev. To be fair it is necessary to tell that in the beginning the researcher called the site “Paleolithic man site of Karasu” by the name of nearby village, and subsequently, renamed it into honor of the scientist-educator Ch.Ch. Valikhanov. Paleolithic man site named after Ch. Valikhanov is 143 km north of Shymkent on the right bank of the third overhead terrace of the Arystandy River (Baidibek area, Turkistan Region). Preliminary research conducted by Kh.A. Alpysbayev revealed that the monument contains five cultural layers lying in situ. The layers are located at different levels from the modern daylight surface and are separated by sterile layers of different power.
