TO THE STUDY OF KHOJA AHMED YASAWI MAUSOLEUM REPAIR WORKS IN 1906-1908

Unrealized repair of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum, which large-scale program was developed in 1906 by civil engineer V.S. Heinzelman, is a completely unknown page in the historiography of Timur architectural masterpiece. In this article, the problem of financing this project is considered for the first time, reflected in a variety of documents deposited in the funds of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The analysis of this material showed the attitude towards the Turkestan mausoleum of the most diverse social layers: from the local clergy of Turkestan to the Emperor Nicholas II, from the advanced scientific and creative intelligentsia to the colonial bureaucracy. As a result, understanding of the continuing scientific and artistic value of the monument, its significance for the believers in the Turkestan region, and the need to preserve it for future generations, was achieved.
