THE GOLDEN HORDE AND ITS LEGACY: International symposium dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the state

Abstract

On November 25–26, 2019 in Istanbul (Republic of Turkey) the Faculty of Humanities of Istanbul University with the participation of the Turkish Historical Society (Türk Tarih Kurumu), Kazan Federal University, the Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Elginkan Foundation (Elginkan vakfı) and also International Kazakh-Turkish University of Ahmad Yasawi held and international symposium "The Golden Horde and its Heritage" dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the founding of this state. 45 scientists from eight countries of Asia and Europe participated in its work. The most numerous were delegations of the Republic of Turkey (14 contributors) and the Russian Federation (23), four participants arrived from Kazakhstan (two from Almaty, as well as one from Turkistan and one from Nur-Sultan), and historians from Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Finland also arrived. As a part of the Russian delegation, the largest was a group from the Republic of Tatarstan (15), as well as historians and archeologists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk and Kurgan. Scientists discussed various problems of the history of the Golden Horde and its heritage, shared the latest scientific developments, and presented their new works.
